ROOFING SHINGLES
Roofing shingles are the construction material for residential roofing application that is used on roof slopes of 12° or greater. It is the smartest solution for complex or intricate roof design. Bitumen shingles do not fade; they are resistant to harmful environmental impacts, decay, corrosion, fire damage, and, what is very important, they perform well in extreme temperatures. Roofing shingles by TECHNONICOL Corporation are available in a wide variety of original patterns and elegant colors.

The roof covered with TECHNONICOL roofing shingles will reliably protect your home from any weather whims. The design and composition of the bitumen shingles, flexibility, and installation features allow you to create a truly reliable roof, even the most refined design and shape.
High-quality components
TECHNONICOL produces roofing shingles in strict accordance with the EN 544 standard. It provides for a minimum mass of 1300 g/m2 of bitumen in single-layer shingles and 1500 g/m2 in multilayer ones.
TECHNONICOL roofing shingles layers
A well-thought-out structure provides the physical characteristics and advantages of the material. Upper layer hydrophobized basalt creates material confident protection from sunlight and mechanical influences. The bright iridescence of colored basalt particles is presented in a variety of shades and creates a beautiful appearance of roofing shingles.
Two layers of the high-quality bitumen compound grant waterproofing and heat resistance, at the same time giving outstanding flexibility to the material.
Reinforcement of TECHNONICOL roofing shingles with fiberglass gives it tensile strength. Lower layer protection does not allow shingles in the package to stick together.
Along with the optimal structure, TECHNONICOL roofing shingles have a whole list of advantages that favorably differ this building material from competitors:
- It is a safe and reliable building material that ensures a long service life for your roof.
- Resistance to algae for 10 years is officially guaranteed for some collections.
- TECHNONICOL company provides a warranty for a period of 30 to 60 years.
- A diversity of basalt granules shades gives depth and volume to the tile’s textures, creating a magnificent roof. The mineral composition is resistant to UV exposure and keeps color intensity for a long time.
- All-weather bitumen roofing shingles will serve equally well in any climate zone with a temperature range between -70°C to +80°C.
- Bitumen shingles are lightweight if compared to ceramic (clay), slate or concrete roof tiles, which reduces the load and increases safety.
- The technologically mature structure and composition of the multilayer coating make residential roofing highly quiet.
- Exceptional wind resistance to the special sealed lower layer of roof tiles.
Shingles styles
Roofing shingles by TECHNONICOL are presented in several single-layer and architectural multilayer collections. Each of them has its own characteristics, different shape, and creates a unique style for your roof.
Architectural multilayer roofing shingles
A reliable solution for residential roofing, which will perfectly emphasize the architectural style of your home. There is no need to align the pattern between the shingles, which significantly reduces roof installation time, and there is no waste after. Laminated roofing shingles are featured by incredible durability – puncture, piercing, damage to the multilayer roofing material is almost impossible. Specific cut patterns are made to look like natural handmade tiles, such as slate or wooden shakes. Architectural multilayer roofing shingles are an excellent solution for those who choose comfort and safety.
CONTINENT collection is an elite triple-layer bitumen roofing shingles that imitate the old roof look. The rectangular tiles with variable surface images create an amazing feeling of an ultra-dimensional roof.
COUNTRY AR collection of double-layer roofing shingles creates a visual volumetric effect on the roof surface that perfectly imitates the natural landscape. Colored basalt granules contain copper and prevent the growth of algae on the roofing shingles.
JAZZ collection has a similar cut shape but with increased shingles thickness. It significantly improves wear, wind, and foul weather resistance. The nailing area is reinforced with glass threads to increase flexibility, tensile strength, and overall reliability.
WESTERN collection’s feature is a patented design of rhombus slats with bevelled corners, creating a stunning holographic effect. There are no analogs of these double-layer roofing shingles in the world. It is presented in classic colors that shimmer in a variety of shades. It is also provided with a self-adhesive strip for high wind resistance.
Single-layer roofing shingles
TECHNONICOL offers traditional bitumen shingles with a self-adhesive layer on the bottom, which provides the best adhesion to the roof surface. CLASSIC AR collection is presented in several variations of patterns and fashionable shades. Copper-containing granules reliably protect shingles against algae growth. TROPIC APP collection was created specifically for use in India, where the most common installation method is torching. Roofing shingles on a base of APP modified bitumen composition have incredible mechanical properties and heat resistance above 150°C.

*Installation methods:
- a – nailing;
- b – torching;
- с – torching with additional nailing for steep roofs (slope ≥60°).
Installation
There are two main installation methods: torching and nailing. The torching method is commonly used in India.
- Non-flammable roof decking should be cleaned of dirt and dust. The base can be cast-in-place reinforced concrete, cement-bonded particleboard, fiber cement board.
- Apply a BITUMEN PRIME COATING. Let it dry completely. This process usually takes up to 12 hours, but under specific temperature conditions and relative humidity, the drying time may increase.
- Perform the strengthening of the eaves and gables protrusions.
- Install underlay membranе ULTRAPLAST B along the valley and roof slopes by torching the membrane followed by pressing and straightening it with a roller.
- Start installing the roofing shingles from a valley, then continue on regular roof slopes. Direct the flame of the torch only to the underlay membrane and not to the shingle itself. The adhesion happens due to the melting of the bitumen compound of the underlay membrane followed by pressing the shingle to it with a roller.
- Finally, install the shingles on the hips observing the cascading principle. Then finish the roof in ridge zones with mechanical fixation of ventilation components covered by hip & ridge shingles.
For steep roofs with a slope of ≥ 60°, when laying shingles from the JAZZ and COUNTRY collection, nails should be applied as a source of additional fixation.
The nailing method, which is the most popular around the world, is also applicable for the installation of any TECHNONICOL roofing shingles.
- Wood decking (OSB-3, plywood, tongue, or groove boards) is fixed to the rafter’s system.
- When a base is ready, start reinforcement of the eave overhangs with metal planks.
- The next step is laying the self-adhesive underlay membrane in zones of valleys and eaves. Then cover the rest of the roof with underlay membranes designed for mechanical fixation.
- After applying underlayment, reinforce the fronton overhangs with metal fronton planks.
- Apply TECHNONICOL shingles by fixing them with roofing nails. The rules of installation may differ for different types of cutting patterns. Before the installation of some collections of roofing shingles, one should remove the protective film on the backside.
- Before the installation of triple-layer roofing shingles, protective film on the backside should be removed. The CONTINENT collection unlike other cutting patterns should be fastened with 45-mm roofing nails along the indicator line.
Note that every next layer of roofing shingles should completely cover the nail-heads on the previous layer. In order to create thermal insulation, PIR boards or stone wool slabs should be applied as an additional layer.
Complete details on the installation of pitched roofs with bitumen shingles are given in relevant manuals.
Bitumen roofing shingles are the most reasonable solution for your pitched roof. Unsurpassed quality of products for residential roofing is confirmed by a warranty provided for the material up to 60 years.
